Smaller stories but I'm sure you'll be interested. Over the weekend we received an explanation for why the mall siege in Nairobi, Kenya lasted four days, which is three days longer than the previous record for mall sieges. It seems the Kenyan gendarme were helping themselves to some of the merchandise at the upscale Westgate Mall. So, incompetence as an explanation gets replaced with corruption. Nice.

And the situation in Free Egypt just gets more dreadful. It was startling to read that there were still enough Muslim Brothers (1) still alive and (2) not in jail, and (3) still battling the (American-trained) military in history's first non-coup coup. There are fewer of the Brothers who fit the above criteria today: "dozens" (New York Times), "fifty" (BBC) more were killed over the weekend.
