Cannibals Choke.

My goodness gracious.

It is the last week of the English Premier League season. The title is down to Manchester City and Liverpool, even on points but City with a daunting 9 goal tiebreaker advantage. Only one match on tap tonight, Liverpool at mid-table Crystal Palace. Cannibals manager Brendan Rogers was undaunted, saying the club were not disrespecting Newcastle, their final opponent, but they could make up the goal difference. Newcastle. So...CP?

When I first checked the score on my phone during the 20-minute drive home from work it was 1-0 'Bals in the 52nd minute. Ha! 1-0 would not cut it in chasing down God's Team of Angels in Blue. A few minutes later I checked again. 3-0, now in the 60's. They could get five or six and had plenty of time to do it. The car drifting over the lane and back, I kept refreshing the score. 3-1. Child Porn had stopped the onslaught. 3-2! Back to that peepee one-goal diff. Ya gonna score eight on Nuevo Castillo, Jolly Rogers? Ha! Then, a minute from my house, another refresh: 3-3! They tied it! Palace had tied it!

And so it ended.

Up 3-0 and their fans chanting "Attack! Attack!" the Cannibals bit off more than they could chew and choked on a 3-0 lead. Coughed the whole thing up. City nearly did the same--worse--two years ago. They could do it again, against Aston Villa Wednesday afternoon or West Ham Sunday.

No. City won't choke. City will win the league.

Liverpool disrespected another team of world-class professional athletes, as if all they had to do was "Attack! Attack!" and Palace could never score. As if.
