According to McMenamin Coach David Blatt took the blame for not having the team mentally prepared. "Mentally prepared" were McMenamin's words. He is correct, whoever is to blame. This loss goes beyond one in eighty-two games. It will, as Smith said, effect Cleveland the rest of the season. Cleveland was mentally ambushed and mentally abused by the "Warriors." "...the Warriors dropped more devastation upon a team than should be allowed for a single game," wrote one Cleveland writer.
A day or two ago another Cleveland columnist wrote that, now, Golden State was no longer the "hungrier" of the two teams. LeBron James had said earlier in the season that Golden State was hungrier. Yet, Monday night the "Warriors" definitely were still hungrier. Maybe the "Cavaliers" should be put on half-rations for awhile to increase their appetite.
Cleveland's players were cavalier (Oh, that was awful) after the debacle repeating, by rote, that this was a teachable moment, that they know they "have to get better" and other such blathering. No. "What the Warriors did to the Cavaliers was an outright crime," wrote a third Cleveland writer.
It is time to call the cops and get a detective assigned to investigate and identify the perp.
