Knowing nothing, I expected a drop of 5% at the opening bell on the stock exchanges today. I was thus thrilled that for much of the morning the indices wobbled only between 1% and 2%.

As the clock strikes noon however the Dow is -3.79% and was over -4% a few minutes ago. From 11:05 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. the Dow was on a continual, steep decline before rebounding slightly. It is 18,510 at the moment. There is something about it getting below 18,000 that is bad, I forget what I read, but right now at least it is not there and having already lost 663 points in the morning session a drop of an additional 510 in the afternoon seems unlikely.
