The line was Pitt -21.5! They didn't even score that many points! That was the most ridiculous set by Vegas. Don't know what they were smoking. Attendance at the game in Pittsburgh was about what it always is.
Syracuse head Orangeman Dabo Babers better be a leetle bit careful that this season doesn't get away from him. The "Orangemen" are 0-2. Babers is now in his fifth year at Syracuse. In the four previous he has had three losing seasons plus a magical 10-3 in 2018. It really did seem like smoke and mirrors too. Since then however the 'Cuse is 5-9 and this season does not look good at all for them. Dabo is not going to get canned after this year, this year is just two weird a year to do that. His leash is tightening a bit though.
Strange thing this Pitt-Syracuse "thing." The Wikipedia says it's a "rivalry." If so it's the first one where the fans of both schools don't consider it a rivalry. That in itself is strange. The two schools have met 76 times all-time and every single year since 1955! Pitt leads all time 41-31-3, which is 55%-41%. The numbers read like a competitive series but that too is misleading. There have been long streaks where one school has dominated, not Pitt wins six, Syracuse wins four every decade. That would make for a rivalry. This does not: Pitt has won three in a row, seven of the last eight and 16 out of 19 going back to 2002. Before that Syracuse won eleven straight and were 16-1-1 going back to 1984! And before that, Pitt won eleven straight! Rather than a rivalry game it would be more accurate to say that we have each been each other's gimme on the schedule for a decade or two at a time! It is just weird.
