I made the mistake of checking the Times one last time before turning in last night. The result was the previous post that kept me up till about 1:30. I almost made the same mistake Saturday night with this, which I didn't think of until I turned the lights out.
I have thought, and have written, many times that politics is sex by other means, that there is a sexual perversity that is nested in authoritarianism. It was there among Hitler's acolytes. The Strong Man. The headline I chose for the Catastrophe was "America Gets Its Strong Man." It was prominent in Breitbart fascism, in the political term "cuck conservative." It was there in that fat cunt* who accused Joe Biden of fingering her, and who wrote that strong man Vladimir Putin's masculinity and power were sexually irresistible to American women. It was there in Trump girl Hogan Gridley's authoritative statement that Donald Trump was the most masculine man ever to be president. It was there among Charles Manson's girls, who stabbed Leno and Rosemary LaBianca in an overkill orgasmic frenzy. It was present in China during the Cultural Revolution: "It was glorious to beat someone to death," said Liu Tingting, daughter of the president. It was there among the purposeful female operators, some of whom took leading roles, in coolly directing the violent, deadly 1/6 coup d'etat. It is there in the fetishization of the Second Amendment. Girls with guns. Penis envy. "Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac," Henry Kissinger said, a concise joinder of sexual and political power. Violence is the ultimate expression of power. "Real power is fear," Trump told Bob Woodward. "Christianity will have power," was the comment that stood foremost in the minds of Trump's listeners in Iowa in 2016. Phyllis Schafly used traditional Christian American female submissiveness to accumulate political power and single-handedly defeat the Equal Rights Amendment, which would have enshrined gender equality in America's most sacred document, the Constitution. Christianity, as contrasted with Judaism and Islam, is a "feminine" religion. Jesus was not a Strong Man, he was a long-haired androgynous faggot**. Now Mohammed, hoo doggie, there was a Trump-like violent dude. Christ was mocked, placed in the humiliating crucifix position and murdered. The crucifix position is vertical to the humiliating missionary sexual position's horizontal. It's twisted, freedom-in-slavery, pleasure-in-pain, powerless-on-my-back, being-forced-means-I'm-irresistible, passive-aggressive twisted--but it resonates with some women and in a perverse sense sexual passivity is power: Woman, in a physically hopeless position, reduces the Strong Man to temporary, recumbent, impotent jelly when he ejaculates into the hole between her legs. Woman makes man prisoner of her queynte device.
I have thought all of that previously but I did not think all of that Saturday night. I thought of Bob Knight. Resistance is Futile popped into my head for some reason and of a sudden I remembered what Knight had said long ago, "If rape is inevitable, lie back and enjoy it." Resistance is futile so enjoy it--if you can. If not, you're still going to get raped. Authoritarianism and democracy, power and impotence, fear and safety, war and peace, masculinity and femininity, politics and sex, faith and fact, those cover a fair piece of human behavior. It is who we are. Resistance is futile.
