"Nobody's gotten to the bottom of 9/11..."-Trump, July 28

"Nobody's gotten to the bottom of 9/11, unfortunately, and they should have, as to the maniacs that did that horrible thing to our city, to our country, to the world. So nobody's really been there. But I can tell you that there are a lot of really great people that are out here today."-Promoting the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour at his club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

LIV and Let Die has always seemed to me a singular moment in understanding 45th. A former president was willing to lend his voice to conspiracy theories concerning the worst attack on "our country" in eighty years; he would lend the currency to get back personally the principle and interest from the attackers. If he had been president on that other occasion we would all be speaking Japanese now.

The Saudi absolution occurred eleven days before the search warrant on Mar-a-Lago was executed. It focuses a laser beam on the answer to the question that all have asked since: Why did he have the Top Secret documents? Because he intended to use them for his own personal benefit. Not because he was a pack rat. And the July 28 statement illuminates those 48 empty folders: Has he already used those uber-secrets for his aggrandizement?
