“Absurd.” “Preposterous.” “Makes no sense.” Todd Blanche’s closing is dotted with these phrases as he seeks to ridicule the government’s argument. Right now, he’s still focused on the idea that Trump entered a conspiracy with The National Enquirer, mocking the tabloid as ineffective in the face of a national election.
It’s an interesting argument. I think many reporters believe that a good story — or good tip, at least — can appear anywhere, and that anything influential will find its audience.
