If there are crueler words that man has spoken to man I do not wish to hear them. Those are the words of Leo Amery, May 7, 1940, addressed to the man-Amery's friend-who spoke the words at top on September 2, 1939, Neville Chamberlain. Six months later Chamberlain was dead.
