Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr.
November 20, 1942 (age 72)
ScrantonPennsylvania.
Didn't know that.

Something to consider now that the 72-year old vice president is inching closer to another run for the presidency. The surest sign yet: he's plagiarizing again, this time from former SECSTATE Hilary Clinton. Biden is now claiming Clinton's position in favor of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden as his own. Clinton advised Obama to do it. Biden advised no, and after the fact said he advised no. His statements however have "evolved" over the years. Biden does not dispute that his position in the meeting before other cabinet members and advisors was no, but he has claimed for a few years now that after the meeting he was walking with the president and urged him to "follow your instincts." Not quite a full throated, "Charge!" but evolution you know is all about nuance. Joe! said he could see in POTUS' face that he was leaning toward charge and so "follow your instincts" was intended to confirm the lean-charge. Nuance, nuance, we're all about nuance here. And evolution, we're pro-evolution here.

Now however, as the inch worm inches closer to a run the worm has turned again.

"We walked out of the room and walked upstairs. I told him my opinion: I thought he should go, but to follow his own instincts."

Say it ain't so, Joe! It ain't so, Joe.

As for the veep's other uses of other's material, see Syracuse Law School, see Hubert Humphrey, see John F. Kennedy, see Robert F. Kennedy, and, most famously, see Neil Kinnock.

After eight successful* years as vice president those incidents have all but been forgotten. Why is Biden now, and at age 72, evolving his statements again and making everyone recall those others? There is deja vu in that too.

Shortly after winning election to the United States Senate in 1972 as a thirty year old, but before being sworn in, horrific tragedy struck Biden. His wife and one year old daughter were killed in an automobile accident. His two small sons were injured.** Biden considered resigning the Senate, not being sworn in, technically, but was persuaded by the Senate Majority Leader to take the oath and to take his seat.

Biden visited his two sons daily in the hospital after the accident and was sworn in in the hospital room with media members present, one injured little one lying there in the foreground, there being no possibility to step into a hallway to be sworn in and avoid using the injured child as a prop.

Why is he doing this? That beautiful little boy survived and grew up to become a very handsome
man, to see his dad sworn in as vice president, to become an attorney himself and to have a family of his own.

And then tragedy struck.

* But see, "I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades," former SECDEF Robert Gates.
**[nb 1] Biden has on at least two occasions alleged that the truck driver was under the influence but this was not the case.[43][44-Wikipedia.
