Twelfth-place Brighton and Hove Albion gave the second-place "Bucs" the heave hove (do you get it?) 1-0 in Brighton Friday. United are following the path trodden by Liverpool this season: big win sandwiched between desultory results. Last week they beat Arsenal, this week they lose to struggling Brighton. The explanation is less strange in United's case than Liverpool's. United have nothing to play for and so they don't play. Brighton have a preference for champagne and a distaste for Coca Cola to play for and so they play with fizz and get the result.
