Las Vegas Shooting Investigation Closed. No Motive Found

This is of course the Steven Paddock case. Boy, 58 people murdered; the subject incontrovertibly known and no motive, after ten months.
MH370: 239 killed; a passenger plane, a big lumbering dinosaur of an aircraft, disappears without a trace. No motive, hell, no real plausible theory, after...four years and five months.
Two mass losses of life, in different parts of the world and completely different facts. Yet, nothing.
Nope, we have failed. We are not as good as we thought we were. In the case of the plane, humanity was just incompetent. We're bad, not just not as good as we thought, we suck.
