The courts in the two counties I practice are now closed until June 1. I cannot get into the jails to see my clients, I cannot schedule hearings, I cannot take depositions. This is the first time that I have gotten demoralized about the lockdown. May 1 was just around the corner, I could see May 1 from here. June 1, I can't see June 1 from here. My son and daughter are working! Their father is not. That bothers me. I don't know how my fellow private criminal defense attorneys are surviving financially. I'm in a favorable financial position and am semi-retired anyway. My younger colleagues with families and mortgages, I don't know how they're doing it.
