14-day changes
-29% Cases
-21% Hospitalizations
-2% Deaths
The incomprehensible gap between Hospitalizations and Deaths widened due to a stronger decrease in the Hospitalizations change and a Deaths decrease so weak as to be mocking.
7-day daily averages
146,486 Cases. Down. The Cases graph, which had resembled the side of a mountain has, over the last few iterations been a gentler slope
101,117 Hospitalizations. Down.
3,169 Deaths. Up. Up by fifteen, up for the second straight iteration. It is now 133 per day higher than it was in 46-1's last week.
Not good, not good a'tall.
The Dailies:
134,339 new reported Cases on President Biden's twelfth day. Not as big an increase over Jan. 31's as I expected (reporting artifact).
2,031 new reported Deaths on Biden's watch on Feb. 1. That is a surprisingly modest increase. Tuesday's are a heavy reporting day. Reporting lag gives way to reporting catch-up, yet 2,031 is less than 300 more than on Jan. 31, a reporting lag day. And look at the contrast with last Tuesday: There were 4,084 new reported Deaths on Jan 26. This Tuesday there are less than half that. That is cause for optimism.
