It's really hard for me to think about the period Nov. 8, 2016--the Catastrophe as I termed it; anybody want to dispute that characterization?--through Jan 19, 2021, and especially of 1/6. So, I haven't followed Impeachment-II at all closely. That has taken some deliberate avoidance as the trial is all over the news. When I scanned the ledes in the New York Times last night it was all-Trump, including in the opinion section, except one. Near the bottom of the right front page box, "The Coming Technology Bom," David Brooks. It tickled me. So Brooks, so optimistic. The conclusion:
Life would be longer and healthier, energy would be cleaner and cheaper, there would be a greater sense of progress and wonder.
I did, and I appreciated it. Now, since this is Dave, probably 20% of his cheery foresight is going to be based on misreading, mis-citing, or irrational exuberance but that's okay too, I needed a shot of Brooksian wonder.
