*Updated. I sent this to my son and he was confused. He thought it was a car horn. He kept texting me, "So that's singing not a car alarm?" I understand that it sounds like a car horn and the video is pointing out into a parking lot, reinforcing what you think you hear. But it is not a car horn, it is singing or chanting. I was in the bathroom when it started. I quickly got off, grabbed my phone and before I opened my front door I turned my phone camera on to video. It's the only way I know to record sound on an iPhone. When I got outside onto the breezeway there was a young Orthodox couple on my floor already outside leaning their forearms on the balcony listening and smiling. I did likewise and pushed the red button to make sure the phone was recording. As I was recording I could see my neighbor, who I know and exchange greetings with every time we see each other, down on the third floor breezeway. She was listening reverently, sometimes lowering her eyes, to the singer-chanter who was in front of her, and who had her back to me. The building curves so I never could see more than just a dark covering over the shoulders and hair. In many words that is explanation for these few: I was not spoofing. That was real Orthodox Jewish singing-chanting. I don't know how well it was performed, never having been in Temple for other renditions, but it clearly was received positively by the Chosen I saw and It. Was. Real.
So that you may practice your Rosh Hashanah singing…Or if you want soothing car horn background music…Or if you want to customize your alarm clock ringer. No need to thank me.
