Kyle missed tonight’s game for “rest.” I’m totally cool with that. The motherfucker’s 35 years old and is my height. Rest him, absolutely!
I knew that roster looked thin tonight. Only eleven players. You know that Nikola Jokic's retaliation on Markieff Morris in Denver was much more serious than I thought. Markieff has missed all five games since with whiplash. Adam Silver did the right thing in suspending him. It was a blindside hit. The video shows that a split second before Jokic retaliated Morris was completely oblivious. Jokic is a big motherfucker, 6’11”, 284 and he put his bulk fully into that shot. Morris was down in obvious, real, not faux, pain and now he has missed five straight. Jokic expressed remorse when he saw the slowed down version of Morris’ head snapping back from the hit. It was worse than he, and anyone, thought and it really hurt Markieff. NBA players have got to be more conscious of their strength. They are immense human beings and if they throw their immensity into a vulnerable, unaware player, real damage can, and was, done in that incident. They’ve got to be educated more on the dangers of their sizes to other players playing in their underwear with NO protection.
The perennial Victor Oladipo injury situation continues with no timetable on Victor’s return. It’s extremely frustrating that, on no less an authority than the great Magic Johnson, Miami had “won” free agency last year when it got Oladipo from Indiana, that poor Victor hurt himself badly in only his fourth game with the team and had to have surgery that has kept him out of all games since. With no timetable for his return on a $21M/year guaranteed contract, that is a blow that literally prevented all of us from assessing what this team could be with him. It’s a terrible, unfortunate position for player and team to be in.
