According to sources Mark Whipple resigned because his relationship with Pat Narduzzi soured over the past year, not for other reasons.

Well, it was something. It was out of the blue, it does reek of some hard feelings somewhere, it totally screwed Narduzzi and the team for the Peach Bowl. But I cannot vouch for the credibility of this report, it is contrary to Narduzzi's own statement on the resignation, and contrary to John McGonigal's report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which I can vouch for, that there was "no animosity" in Whipple's departure.
