The one thing standing between Bryce Young and the Heisman? Georgia's defense
The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. The winners of the trophy epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.
So, it's not just "the best", not "the most outstanding on one of the best teams", not the "most valuable", it's:
1) the outstanding player
2) performance best exhibits pursuit of excellence with integrity.
3) epitomize great ability with diligence, perseverance and hard work.
Why is Bryce Young the favorite and not Kenny Pickett? Kenny is not even runner-up for the award according to the oddsmakers, he's fifth, (?!) Both Young and Kenny are outstanding with similar stats, on which Young does have a slight edge:
Young: 3,901 yards, 40 TD's, 4 INT's, 86.7 QB rating.Pickett: 4,066 yards, 40 TD's, 7 INT's, 81.8 QBR.
