FT Man City 4 Norwich 0

I got a new computer! My golden son came over to set it up for his old man and I forgot about this match.

British Sterling had the hat trick and Phil Foden added one after Raheem's opener as City rolled over the defenseless "Canaries." Norwich has been a yo-yo team since I've been following the Premier League, if memory serves this is their first season back up, and they're currently in their accustomed position in the relegation zone agayne. There is no hope for a team like Norwich to compete for a league title. It's the way the English like it.

City have played 25 (of the season's 38) and Liverpool 23. The closest 'Pool could be on an equal number of games played is six points. From there City would have to lose two of the final 13 played (they've lost two in 25) that Liverpool won. In that event it's likely Liverpool would win the league on the goal difference tie-breaker.

The difference between the Premier League and the North American big four team sports is that while the gap between top and bottom is just as wide (We have our Detroit "Lions" and Toronto "Maple Leafs") the top is always more competitive here than across the way. When I started following the EPL there was a "big four". Then several years after the Manchester Revolution it was a "big six." In recent seasons however there has not been even a big two. Manchester City and Liverpool have won the last four Premier League titles but the competition between the top two teams in any one season has not been close. Only in 2018/19, when City won by one point, was the title contested. City's other two championships in the last four campaigns were by 12 and 19 points; Liverpool won theirs by 18. When the top is not competitive what is the interest? The season is over. Such is the way it is and the English like it that way.
