Reporting from Washington
Pentagon Saturday: "Most of the more than 150,000 Russian forces massed against Ukraine are now fighting in the country, but those troops are “increasingly frustrated by their lack of momentum” as they face stiff Ukrainian resistance, especially in the country’s north, a senior Pentagon official said on Saturday."
Pentagon Friday: "The United States said on Friday that one-third of Russia’s combat power was fighting in Ukraine."
Pentagon Thursday night: Kyiv could fall quickly.
Now, it's only Saturday. If Kyiv capitulates today or Sunday that would still qualify as "quickly." American intelligence though is all of a sudden pretty fuzzy. Only a third of Russian troops in Ukraine on Friday and over half this morning? Russian troops are "increasingly frustrated"? Where did that come from? The war started Feb. 24, TWO DAYS AGO. They're "increasingly frustrated" after two days? The quasi-official New York Times headline now is "RUSSIAN FIGHTERS CLOSE IN ON THREE CITIES". Yesterday, it was Kyiv, the capitol, was virtually surrounded.
