My beloved "Panthers" had over 70,000 in attendance for the West Virginia game, setting a city of Pittsburgh sporting record. They had just under 60,000 today. 130,000 in two games, I'm willing to lay a dime that's a new Pitt football attendance record.

Pitt and West Virginia play something like eight of the next eleven years. So the “Backyard Brawl” has been effectively renewed. But the “Johnny Majors Classic” is done after two games. What a shame. It’s a great intersectional matchup with a historical link. It would have legs. It would become a real rivalry.
