Anthony Minghella, who directed [Cate Blanchett] in “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” once described her as “the Bach of acting.”
I don't watch movies as a rule. Consequently I have only seen Blanchett in one film, Blue Jasmine, but her performance was hailed as one of, if not the, best of her career and I was blown away by her acting perfection. High compliment there, "the Bach of acting." Well deserved.
