Trying to piece a ball game together from the box score fascinates me. Consider these:
The bottom line is CHI 116, MIA 108. Eight points is not a nail-biter. Cows led every second of the entire second half. So how'd they get there?
CHI shot 44.1% from field, MIA 46.3.
CHI shot 36.1 from range, MIA 42.9.
CHI had 46 boards, MIA 46.
🤔
We begin to see how the teams got there in the turnover column. CHI had 14 t.o.'s; MIA had 19. That's five more possessions, potentially 10 points or even 15.
And here you really see it. CHI took 93 shots to only 80 for MIA, 36 from range to 28 for MIA. So while Miami shot better from the field and from long Chicago had 13 more total shots and 8 more from three. That'll do it. ...I don't see how five extra possessions off turnovers though reasonably results in 13 more shot attempts when the rebound totals are identical. That's 2.6 shots for every possession after turnover. (?) I don't know. It's interesting but not as cogent as 108-116 L.
