Cash Considerations

There is a decent chance that the the Dedmon gift allows the Godfather there to sign Russell Westbrook. Now, before hot "Heat" fans start exchanging bodily fluids: 1) It's Russell WESTBRICK, not Kevin fucking Durant. 2) Utah would have to buy Russ out of his contract and then waive him on March 1. 3) Russ would have to be willing to come to Miami on pennies on the dollar, the freed up Dedmon money, plus, I think, the "Heat" can combine the Dedmon money with a mid-level exception, maybe two. It would add up (I think) to about $7.5M-$10M dollars. Now, there are luxury tax consequences to all of this and that is why God gave Andy Elisburg to the "Heat". Westbrook reportedly has targeted the "Heat" and LAC if he's bought out and waived. Maybe the "Jazz" won't buy him out or maybe Russ decides to change lockers in Crypto.com Arena instead of changing zip codes clear across country. And beyond March 1 to end of season I don't know what happens. If all of the above we would have Westbrook for a month and change of the regular season and then the playoffs.

It is not worth it to me. Westbrook's game has so degraded that he would not bring the "Heat" any closer to a championship or even the Eastern Conference title than they are now. It is reasonable that he, in combination with BKLN's clear-out, would improve the "Heat's" seeding a tick or two. Some "Heat" fans jaded by today's non-event will become un-jaded if all of the above happens. Me, I adopt Sean Deveney's contemplation and do not see a way out of a continuation of 45 unless the above-depicted Godfather blows up the team.
