Pitt basketball is projected an eight or nine seed in the NCAA tournament. The “Panthers” NET ranking however has only been as high as 51st and fell to 52nd this week although the team didn’t play. Why might that be?

NET includes strength of schedule and past opponents’ current NET rating and Pitt’s worst loss since the beginning of the season was just a couple of weeks ago, at home, to a sub-par Florida State team. That was a “Quad 4” loss, which is the worst kind. And this week the “Seminoles” lost at home to Syracuse, at least a Quad 3 loss for them, which caused Pitt’s NET to drop.

In under an hour the “Panthers” tip off agayne agaynst the “Seminoles”, in Tallahassee. Pitt is a 4-point favorite and favorite they must needs make good on or see their NET drop more than just one tick, and their projected seating at the Big Dance closer to the exit doors.
