The fifth post today urged 601 Biscayne to trade Jimmy Butler to the "76'ers" for Draft Picks. I have come back to it in thought throughout the day. It's a unique opportunity. A team with cap space, the "Sixers" can trade cap space. The other team, the "Heat", don't have to match salaries when the trade partner has cap space to trade. Look at our roster. What's not to like?

Former Sixth Man of the Year Tyler Herro.
All Defensive First Team Bam Adebayo.
First Team All Rookie, Jaime Jaquez, Jr.
Duncan Robinson, who finished tenth this year for Most Improved Player.
Bursting with potential Nikola Jovic.
Scary Terry Rozier.
The 15th pick in this year's draft.

That's six, perhaps seven, deep, Lads and Laddies. Ira Winderman says we can't go the free agent route because of Jimmy's salary and Bam's and Tyler's. Ira says we have to make a trade(s). Our biggest chip by far is Jimmy Butler. Jimmy's not the future; Jimmy hasn't even been a regular in the present in his time here. He can't play 75-80 games. How do we know? Because he hasn't. And Father Time is ticking. And his salary is immense. Riley cannot get an enforceable commitment from Jimmy and his agent to play 75-80 games. He tried last summer and Jimmy sat out the third game of the season for rest and missed an important game late when he turned up "sick" after spending eight hours in the Miami sun watching tennis.

Philadelphia has a temperate climate. They have a wheeler-dealer GM, Daryl Morey, who is bold and active. Morey needs a Jimmy. He could use a Jimmy, even one playing 55-64 games, with his accustomed energy, defense, and mammoth heart. He could make the difference, or at least significantly improve their chances. They had Jimmy once. The "Heat" should give them Jimmy again. It is, as they say, a no-brainer and it's a unique opportunity. Riley spoke boldly but ambiguously about the need for change in Miami. The franchise cannot bring back the same old gang in 2024-25. There's going to be a fan revolt, as those things go in Miami. Apathy is a fan revolt in Miami.

This is the "Heat's" chance and it beckons. When a change is necessary it is necessary to change immediately. It is necessary to change, and the change must come starting June 1. It is necessary to trade Jimmy Butler.
