I Owe Donald Trump and His Supporters an Apology-Erick Erickson
For several months now, Donald Trump and his supporters have claimed that they would put states in play for the GOP that have never been in play before. I have repeatedly been dismissive of their claims. But new polling shows that, in fact, Trump and his supporters are right. Donald Trump will put states in play for the GOP that have never been in play before.
Utah, the most Republican of all the Republican states, would go to Hillary Clinton according to new polling. If Trump is the nominee, the state that has always voted for a Republican Presidential nominee will suddenly go Democrat.
Trump and his supporters are right! They do put states in play that have never been put in play before.
By the way, New York, New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania all still go to Hillary, according to the polling.

I tend more toward Ross Douthat...And that guy, I forget his name and can't find the post now, who predicted a Clinton-Trump general would be fought over the usual 10%. I think even if it's Trump who will be the Republican nominee, he will get 90% of the Republican vote. It's the Republican brand. And also their hatred on Hillary Clinton. Anybody seen a "Republicans for Hillary" group, like there were "Democrats for Nixon" in 1972? You see #NeverTrump, calls for an "Independent Republican" third-party, but never "Republicans for Hillary." #NeverTrump is often paired by these enablers with #NeverHillary! My semi-educated guess is that even most of these Nevers will come around and vote for Trump in the end. Maybe the rest will sit it out.
But we really don't know, that's the thing here. There's no template for Trump. He is losing in the polls to Clinton by a greater margin than he was last month or the month before, for what general election polls are worth in March, or February, or January, or December, and his negatives are the highest of any candidate in the history of Gallup polling.
I know this (read: I believe this beyond a reasonable doubt.): Hillary Clinton T'AIN'T GONNA WIN UTAH, I don't care what any poll says.
