"I've had a crush on you all of my life."

Imagine you are a 60-some year old man, an accomplished, respected, good man (Er...You're not imagining me.).

Imagine you married your dream girl. And then imagine your dream girl turned into a nightmare and divorced you. Imagine the pain and the grief and the dispair as you stared at the rest of your life in lonely bitterness.

Now imagine that you went to your high school reunion and renewed acquaintance with the acknowledged Queen of the school, still beautiful at 60-something, now divorced herself and with a life between reaching the top of her profession.

And imagine that beautiful, accomplished woman comes up to you at the reunion and says,

"I have had a crush on you all of my life."

It was the sweetest thing ever said, it was said to you, and now you and your Queen will spend the remainder of your lives together.

Imagine THAT happiest of endings! It is all true and it happened to the most deserving of men who is also one of the best friends I have ever had. I about choke up just thinking about it.

Sometimes good things happen to good people. For "with all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world."
