Last night the Los Angeles "Lakers," in the midst of an extended road trip, were fairly blown out in Memphis 105-88. LeBron James had kind words indeed for "Grizzlies" budding superstar Ja Morant."The kid is super special," James said. "And like I said when we played them (Feb. 21) in L.A., Memphis got a great one. The sky's the limit for the kid."

LeBron has always had telescopic vision, he sees the future, and he has microscopic vision, he sees the detail of individual games and the detail within those games, yet has always keeps the broadest vision. He continued:

"I've always thought about that. Like, what young guys are coming up in the ranks that will be able to continue to carry it on after I'm gone. You look at Ja and you look at Zion. You look at Jayson Tatum. You look at Luka Doncic and Trae Young, and the list goes on and on. Those guys are just not only great on the floor but also, more importantly, off the floor. And that's a great thing to have. ... Our league is in a very, very good place."

And tonight LeBron James saw the other half of the future, the great (on and off the court) Zion Williamson of New Orleans. The "Lakers" won this one and the King put up another 3W, 34, 12,  and 13, but young Zion validated the King's knighthood. 35 points on 12/16 shooting, 11/13 free throws and 7 rebounds.

The King is right. "Our league is in a very, very good place," there is an endless stream of young, enchanting players and good people as well and LeBron will always be part of it, and in a position of power even when he retires. The NBA is his family--not slighting his real, biological family--but LeBron grew up in "our league," became a man in the league and the greatest of his time.

"The greatness of the game will always save us," the late commissioner David Stern used to say in bad, dark, old days, which is consonant with LeBron's confidence that "our league is in a very, very good place.' Stern was right and LeBron is right. The Association, thanks to Stern and Adam, and Bird and Magic and Michael and LeBron and now Ja and Zion and, may I suggest, just perhaps, Kendrick? puts on the greatest show on earth with the greatest athletes and the best people. The Association is impervious because grounded on a rocke.
