"This guy just isn't really an American president."

But here’s the thing: Trump was the same guy before and after the 2020 presidential election and on Jan. 6 that he was when he was elected in 2016. He’s the same guy he was decades before that, too. Love him or hate him, Trump is consistent and has stayed true to form for most of his 75 years. It’s that authenticity that endears him to his supporters.

That was the money shot to me of Swine O'Brien's op-ed. Now, you know where I stand on this issue: Who do you blame in a democracy? Hitler was a real disappointment, wasn't he? Trump had some "issues," no? We can acknowledge that Hits really let us all down and that Trump's golden escalator didn't go all the way to the top of Trump Tower, but we really oughtn't scapegoat Uncle Adolph and Trumpie on accounta the peoplez done voted for these psychopaths--knowing well enough that each was a psychopath! As Churchill said and wrote of WWII "this was a war of peoples not regimes." Germans viewed Hits as "authentic" too. My point is this: I agree with President Biden that 46-1 was not really an American president. Since America in 2016 was a democracy and Germany was a democracy in 1933 it follows (POJO will not agree with me on this.) that Trump supporters are not "really American."  I have believed that since 2016. They are a Fifth Column as Trump was a Manchurian Candidate. Churchill corrected an advisor's complex euphemism for what the Allies had done to the German people: "The word you're looking for is crushed." So must Trump supporters be crushed. "Never again," tweeted Obama advisor David Plouffe in 2016. "Hillary Clinton must not only defeat Trump, she must crush him. His kind shall never be allowed to rise again." To which a Trump supporter responded, "You mean us." Plouffe didn't respond. I did (here). "Yes, Disgusting, you must never rise again."

The Second American Civil War is not over. It is a Second Civil War. And Trump supporters must be crushed and never rise again. That is the most important, and difficult, task we have.

Good night.
