PSU led almost all of this game, jumped out to a 14-3 lead end 1Q. They built it to 17-3 mid-way through the 2Q. QB Sean Clifford, who ran for one TD was picked off twice and then got injured during the FG drive. The game turned there. Clifford's replacement, Ta'Quan Roberson, couldn't generate any offense for the rest of the game. Roberson was also intercepted twice. He finished 7/21 passing at an average of 1.6 yards per completion. Yikes. Poor, young Mr. Roberson, a sophomore had thrown seven passes in his two-game "career" before today. He's the goat, no getting around it, but what makes college tackle football so endearing is that the players are so young, nobody holds poor performances against them. No idea how long Clifford will be out but if it extends into future games PSU is in deep doo-doo.
PSU led 20-13 entering the 4th quarter and Iowa didn't take their second, and final, lead until 6:26 to play. It happened on one play, a 44-yard touchdown pass. Iowa has got clear sailing for the remainder of the season.
