The second parallel is Aguerrooo!, 2012. In that one tremendous shots were traded as in Hagler-Hearns, and, like in Games 1 and 2 of SRG-FUR a huge number of goals (for soccer) were scored, one literally at zero-time. As here Manchester City "drew first blood" against QPR but then had to climb back. Unlike there the other side didn't come back in SRG-FUR, not for a game and a half. In that way SRG-FUR was more like Foreman-Frazier I. Sand Rock certainly rocked Furia first in Game 1 hooo doggie! They led 5-0 before Furia got a consolation goal to make it a 5-1 final.
It's curious that in Rocket League those consolation goals are considered harbingers for the next match. I don't know if that is true generally but it definitely was not true into this Game 2. After 1:31 of the second game Sand Rock led 5-0 agayne. So, through 6:31 of play SRG had outscored Furia 10-1. Some of the casters comments through that game and one-half:
And then...Jesus Christ. Furia got what looked like an early consolation goal with 2:34 left to play. Eight seconds later it was 6-1 and the casters were talking about it ending in a "Brazil."
"No way. They're going to do it again!"
"Oh. My God!"
"This is inCREDible!"
"Sand Rock is salty. They are angry about that loss to Furia in that skirmish (a "show match" played three days prior). There's something personal here 'cause this is brroootal."
And then. Furia scored three more, Sand Rock won Game 2 6-4, but there was something to carry over into the match point game. Furia pulled a "reverse Brazil" over the next game and a half, winning Game 3, 3-0. Sand Rock then closed out the series in Game 4, 2-0 (the second goal scored with 5 secs remaining).
In thoroughbred racing, the "Sport of Kings," marquee races like The Kentucky Derby are termed "the fastest three minutes in sports," right? Each of these two games between Sand Rock Gaming and Furia were the fastest five minutes in esports, and Sand Rock Gaming is the 👑 of Rocket League. Here are video highlights of those two unbelievable games:
