I wish Twitter would buy the New York Times. They could make Liz Cheney's situation amusing (It wouldn't be hard.) From the real quasi-official NYT however, I don't get Cheney's play. She is the lone congressperson in Wyoming, has been censured and disowned by the state party, has a Trump-endorsed primary opponent, hasn't appeared at a party event in the state in two years, insists she's still running for reelection, not abandoning the race to take on Trump in 2024, and is not encouraging Democrats to cross-over and vote for her. Those moves cannot be made commensurable.
