A really fun part of this moment is that it feels like the rules, and the division between city and its inhabitants have been breached. Sanitation workers are hanging off dump trucks filming the parade while kids clamber onto the fenders to get a better look. Two men are standing on a lighted crosswalk pole twenty feet above the ground and the dozens of officers just let them. The N.Y.C. vibes are impeccable here.
