Arthur Danto, the great philosopher of art, died on October 25 and I am embarrassed to say that I did not know until today. Professor Danto was the most influential figure in the field and had been since the mid-1960's. I believe I have read every book on the subject that he wrote. Rest in Peace, Arthur Danto.
