This past Thursday, November 7, a tropical cyclone, named Typhoon Haiyan/Typhoon Yolanda, made landfall in the Philippines. It was a Category 5 storm system. Yesterday, there began reports of the full extent of the loss of life. 1,000, with local estimates as high as 10,000. Today there are some reports of "at least" 10,000 dead.
