I have not tossed Blood Meridian down the trash chute but I have put it up on the bookshelf with little interest in ever taking it down again, a sort of way-station or purgatory. I am going to read the entire 1985 NYT review now and see how specifically "the ending disappoints" in that reviewer's opinion but James Woods' review probably sealed its fate and I will be looking for a new book.
