What if somebody assassinated Hillary Clinton?

“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment,” he said as an aside while smiling. “By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know. But I’ll tell you what, that will be a horrible day.”-Donald Trump, in North Carolina today.

"The reference to the Second Amendment, the right to keep and bear arms, could be interpreted as a joke about using violence to stop Clinton or her judicial picks."
...

"Bob Owens, the editor of the NRA-linked BearingArms.com...:

"That was a threat of violence. As a REAL supporter of the #2A it's appalling to me."

(Owens later deleted the tweet and substituted one blaming the "serially dishonest media.)

"You aren't just responsible for what you say; you're responsible for what people hear."
      -Former CIA director Michael Hayden

THAT is the point. It would be ominous if anyone said that. But Trump has been blowing these dog whistles--On violence especially, on race, on Jews, on Russia, on authoritarianism for over a year now. Normal people didn't hear Trump's dog whistles until they accumulated and reached critical mass. But Trump's supporters have heard the dog whistles all along! And they have responded with violence, with Heil Hitler salutes, by saying of President, "Fuck that Nigger!," by shouting "Go to Auschwitz!" We are WAY beyond the point where a Trump statement seems to be calling for violence but maybe it was a bad "joke." NO! It seems like it was a call for violence because it was a call for violence. And that is how some Trump supporters will take it!

"Don't treat this as a political misstep. It's an assassination threat, seriously upping the possibility of a national tragedy & crisis. This isn't play. Unstable people with powerful guns and an unhinged hatred for Hillary are listening to you, @realDonaldTrump."
-Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CN).

Unstable does as unstable says! An unstable cousin of Trump's Brownshirts in Britain assassinated an MP over Brexit.

"Donald Trump suggested someone kill Sec. Clinton. We must take people at their word. @SecretService must investigate #TrumpThreat."
-Rep. Eric Swallwell (D-CA).

The Secret Service would only say that they were "aware of the comment."

So, what if one of Trump's Brownshirts assassinated Hillary Clinton? Like one of Putin's Brownshirts didn't assassinate Boris Nemtsov? Would Trump be held responsible? (Putin wasn't. It was the Chechens, you know.) http://www.politico.com/story/2016/08/trump-clinton-second-amendment-judges-guns-226833#ixzz4Gt4mofXp

Dangerous times, ladies and gentlemen, dangerous times.
