Hollywood James

The reporter there is the estimable David Jones of the Harrisburg Patriot and from that exchange, admirably conducted by Jones, Fourth-and-Five Franklin is GONE. Which boggles. I don't know why SC AD Lynn Swann would want to hire the guy. Jones lists "in no particular order" ten reasons James "could" (Have I ever mentioned that I HATE weasel words?) leave for SC, #4 of which is,

4. Franklin's personality is a perfect LA fit.

I beg to differ.

"To be specific, it's pretty clear James Franklin is full of crap."

That was Jonesy after James' introductory press conference at PSU!

That is not Magic Johnson's smile up there. That is not Pat Riley's slicked back hair.

That is not Jack Nicholson. That's a used car salesman. That is Kutztown Kool, not SoCal Cool. James Franklin is not cool. He just isn't. There is nothing SoCal about him. He has never coached there, spent no time living or working there at all. He went to college at and played football in Pennsylvania, head coached in Nashville, TN and now in State College, Pennsyltucky. Lynn Swann, who is SoCal Cool, wants to hire that guy? If he does, if James convinces Swann that he's the perfect fit for SC then James could sell a ketchup popsicle. Swannie, take a powder and lie down.
