On the other hand I have been a devoted follower of Manchester City since the 2002/03 season. Never had such luck—since 2007! Those first five years...Oh my God. There was one year in particular the club really sweated out a relegation battle, and I with them. I had to give serious thought to whether I could continue with a club 4,300 miles away that just fell off the soccer map. Clubs playing in the Championship just disappear. Thank goodness I never had to put it to the test.
With Thaksin Shinawatra’s takeover in 2007 it was like when the Wizard of Oz movie changes from black and white to technicolor. And then “Frank” went back to Thailand and sold to Sheikh Mansour!
