College football is difficult to predict. The emotional and mood swings that we see play out in our own young people in other areas of life also, obviously, are there in college age athletes. It is what makes college football, and kids generally, charming, joyful, and exasperating.

Take the Tennessee kids. Last week they played then #2 Georgia close for a long time. Still lost 43-14 but the long closeness hurt Georgia in the top 25 voting. The "Bulldogs" fell into a tie for third in the rankings. Today the Tennessee kids were back chopping wood against Mississippi State. These "Bulldogs" are not Georgia's "Bulldogs" but they were still big favorites. Damn if Tennessee didn't beat them, 20-10.

And what of Georgia? Looks like those "Bulldogs" are heading to overtime against South Carolina! Gonna be another close one regardless. At home. "Between the hedges." South Carolina is 2-3 on the year. Big underdogs. So, this is two games in a row that Georgia has underperformed against expectations. The season is only twelve games long so two games, one-sixth of the schedule, definitely constitute a trend.
