MATT CANADA RETURNS TO PITTSBURGH!

...as QB coach with the "Steelers." *major frowny face* Matt was QB coach and OC at Pitt in 2016--where he just about blew the scoreboard out. Made an impression on the "Steelers" it did. Said President Dan Rooney II:

“Mike (Tomlin) had talked about bringing in a quarterback coach this year...Obviously knew Matt from across the hall here. Knowing him and knowing some of his recent work, Mike was comfortable he was the right person to bring in.”

They play in the same building, you see. "Right across the hall" from each other. Yes, Matt is the right person to bring in. Why didn't Pitt bring him in again? Pat Narduzzi cannot hold onto assistant coaches. Just can't do it. Don't know why, just can't. Heather Lyke, Pitt's A.D. made continuity on the staff a priority the last two off-seasons. She said just a couple of weeks ago that, although you never know, she did not anticipate any coaches leaving Narduzzi's staff this year.

She said it’s important to be able to keep coaches from leaving for similar roles elsewhere. Pitt offensive coordinators Jim Chaney and Matt Canada both left for the same job at Georgia and LSU after the 2015 and 2016 seasons before Lyke arrived.

“If they go on and become head coaches, that’s sort of a different story, but we want to keep them here for the jobs that they’re doing and Coach Narduzzi values all of them and the input and the impact that they’ve had,” Lyke said. “And so do I.”

The words were barely out of Heather's mouth than the assistant coach for strength and conditioning, Dave Andrews, left for Iowa State. Lateral move there, Iowa State. Same job. Then today:

Entire Strength and Conditioning Staff Leaves Pitt
Are they going to Iowa State with Andrews? Dunno. Pittsburgh Sports Now don't know. "It’s not clear why Andrews or his assistants left Pitt." Well, Heather Lyke better fucking find out.
