1) The U.S., with the greatest number of coronavirus cases, has a mortality rate of 2.55% right now.
2) Spain has the next highest number of cases. It's mortality rate is 9.28%.
3) Italy has third most and its mortality rate is an astounding 12.07%.
4) Germany is fourth and has a mortality rate of 1.35%.
5) We pass over China because of widespread reports that the Chinese has stopped counting cases and is not reporting deaths accurately. France is assumes fifth place in number of cases. France's mortality rate is 9.00%
6) Iran is sixth. Its mortality rate is 6.19%.
7) The United Kingdom is seventh in total cases and has a mortality rate of 9.33%.

So, I cannot make sense of that. Excluding China six of the seven countries with the highest number of COVID-19 cases are in the highly industrialized West. Ah, and you see the U.S. is separated from Europe by the Atlantic so...No, that doesn't explain it. Germany is right smack dab in the middle of Europe and Germany has the lowest mortality rate of any of the seven. No, density of population, contiguity with other high infestation countries, do not explain Germany. Germany (1.35%) shares a border with France (9.00%). France shares a border with Spain (9.28%), Germany, and Italy (12.07%). The U.K. is separated from the continent by the Channel and still has a 9.33% death rate. I don't understand. Why would it be that Germany's mortality rate is so much lower than neighboring countries and than the U.S.?
