On Thoisday in IndianNoPlace--Excuse this reporting intrusion: The NBA team resident in the aforesaid NoPlace plays in Miamuh agayne today at 1 bell. I expect my hometown "Heaters" to leave the "Pacers" looking like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone--So, back to this post. Scholars, one and all, are gathered in one place, NoPlace, a semi-idea of the bubble the NBA played in in Borelando in last season's playoffs, both as concession to COVID-19, for their tournament. Already one team, Virginia Commonwealth, had to forfeit its game out of concern for the commonwealth. All other teams have played and there have already been some huge upsets--variations of the word "shock' have been thrown around at the predictable, and annoying, pace, the first of these on the aforementioned Thoisday when Oral "Sex" Roberts, a 15-seed, bumped off THE Ohio State University, a two. The same day a thirteen, North Texas, beat a four, Purdue. That would be two huge upsets for the B1G Conference in one day. A milder surprise, not at the level of "shock" but intense tingle, occurred, I'm guessing at night on Thursday when a twelve, Oregon State, beat a five, Tennessee.
On Friday the shocking madness returned. Fourteenth-seeded Abilene Christian knocked off a third seed, Texas. Later Friday a thirteen upset a four, Ohio over Virginia. That would be two embarrassing losses for the Almost Competitive Conference. Friday was also the day the Commies had to forfeit their game against Oregon.
Upsets are what made the NCAA Men's tournament the must-watch cash cow it is. However, the selection committee honed their matchup skills and there has been a dearth of shock in recent years. The most recent 2-over-15 was in 2016.
And so, duty discharged. "Heat"-"Pacers" in 15. Women and children out of the infield.
