Man, I still cannot wrap my head around the COVID-19 numbers. This is the difficulty I have: Yesterday, the most recent data, 71.1% of adults had received at least one dose of vaccine. Sixty-one percent of adults are fully vaxed. How can the following all be true: 235k new infections with 61%-71% fully/partially vaxed, 300.8k new cases on Jan. 8, the all-time high, when nobody was vaccinated, COVID-19 vaccines are effective?
Based on Aug. 6th's raw daily number of cases, 168.3k, I wrote on Saturday that the GOP was paying the price for being pro-Trump, pro-Coup, anti-Trump (Vaccine) and pro-COVID. If Grand Old Plague cases nationally exceed Trump Plague cases, 300,777 on Jan. 8, 2021 Republicans are in BIG trouble. Now it is a question of "when" not "if" for yesterday, Aug. 9, there were 235,099 Grand Old Plague cases and there is no sign of leveling. As the president said two states, Texas and Florida, make up fully one-third of new national cases and the Republican governors of the Purple Star and Asshole states are feeling tremendous heat. In the Asshole all categories, cases, hospitalizations, deaths, are at or exceed Trump Plague highs. Local officials in both slave states are defying their plantation overseers in mandating masks and vaccines. Some are suing.
The jobs report for July was celebrated as the growth we, finally, were promised. 943,000 Americans found or returned to employment. However, since July 12 there has been a cumulative 2,153,000 Americans newly infected with COVID-19, a majority, I have to think, of working age. That's 2.28x the number of new jobholders! If half the 2.153M are of working age and half of them miss work, 538,250 have missed, or will miss, work. The working-work force in July will then have been 404,750, less than half the jobs number. All to say: the Grand Old Plague is going to cut slave governors with double edges, the newly sick, and truncated work forces--they have to!
