Have the Snowden revelations played a role in Putin's behavior? Wouldn't he have been pissed that NSA was doing all that? But, his public comments were just the other way. He said "Snowden can stay here temporarily but the leaking against our partners must stop." He actually said that. God, that is bizarre. He said "We all do it."
Our allies, our real allies, like Germany, felt betrayed. Putin did not...betray feelings of betrayal.
?
All right, wait a minute. We did betray Putin, didn't we? Like, bug his phone? We didn't just do that to the heads-of-state of Germany, Mexico, and Brazil (et al), did we? I mean, at our warmest point, when Putin was "Poot-poot," we were never as close with Russia as with Germany. I would have thought we had bugs surgically implanted in Putin's brain, transmitting his thoughts in real time to Ft. Meade! But then, wouldn't we have known about Putin's invasion plans? Didn't seem like we did. Did it.
