This is Good

Last week Joe Biden offered to call Trump about coronavirus. That is the kind of decent man Biden is. I thought to a standard of clear and convincing that Trump would never be interested in such a call but...

"I would absolutely take his call. I would love to speak with him, sure."

That showed me a lot.

Today however he again attacked Biden in tweets. But then...he added:

"Also, what ever happened to that phone call he told the Fake News he wanted to make to me?"

And that showed me some humility, that Trump knows he needs help. Additionally it showed that Trump wants the help, that he is willing to learn. That shows a LOT.

And so Biden called today. Trump's take on their talk:

 "Wonderful, warm conversation."

"It was a very nice conversation. He gave me his point of view and I fully understood that."

"It was really good, really nice. ... I appreciate his calling."

"We agreed we weren't gonna talk about what we said," Trump told reporters when asked about the contents of the call.

Trump was then asked about the suggestions Biden made on the call.

"He had suggestions, doesn't mean I agree with those suggestions," Trump said before reiterating that the conversation was "very friendly."

I didn't learn anything new about Joe Biden in this. It is consistent with his whole public life, honor and decency. But I did learn a lot about Donald Trump. If he asked me to do something specific to help him I just might do it.
