Above, a photograph, represented to be that of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, being wheeled away from the scene of her grave wounding. The news reporting on this shooting has been horrendous. This photo first appeared, to me, in the Indian newspaper, The Hindu, but the identity of the woman on the stretcher was not revealed, although it appeared likely to be Rep. Giffords. The same photo now appears in The New York Times with the identifying information.
Rep. Giffords physicians are quoted as saying that she has been responsive to commands when they have taken her out of her induced coma for assessment. That is near-miraculous, and wonderful news, if true.
