An earthquake struck Japan near Fukushima about an hour ago. The quake is measured variously as of 6.9, 7.3 and 7.4. Those are significant differences. The difference between a 6 and a 7 quake is an order of magnitude of 10. No reports of injury or damage this early. A tsunami alert had been issued.
